biography
Pianist Zitong Wang is the winner of the Bronze Medal and Krystian Zimerman Award for the Best Performance of a Sonata at the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition (2025). She has emerged as one of the most compelling voices of her generation, captivating audiences worldwide with her fiery bravura and poignant sensitivity in each of her memorable interpretations. She is also a laureate of numerous other international competitions, including the 64th Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition (2023).

She has appeared as a soloist with many of the world’s leading orchestras, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic, Polish Baltic Philharmonic, and New Jersey Symphony, working with conductors such as Jahja Ling, Xian Zhang, Andrzej Boreyko, and Antony Hermus.

A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studied with Meng-Chieh Liu and Eleanor Sokoloff, Zitong is currently pursuing her graduate studies at the New England Conservatory under Dang Thai Son. Her recent seasons have featured widely praised performances at the Berlin Philharmonie, Munich Prinzregententheater, National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing, Polish Baltic Philharmonic in Gdańsk, and the Shanghai Arts Festival, among others.
Upcoming engagements include several of her most significant appearances to date, including the Chopin Competition Laureates Tour in Japan and Korea, her recital debut at the Chopin and His Europe Festival in Warsaw. These milestones are joined by performances in Córdoba, Poznań, and Kraków, followed by a Japan recital tour across Morioka, Yamagata, Osaka, Sendai, and Tokyo.

A committed chamber musician, Zitong has collaborated with David Shifrin, Roberto Díaz, Soovin Kim, Gloria Chien, the Isidore Quartet, Vera Quartet, and Zora Quartet, and has worked with composers including Unsuk Chin, Bright Sheng, David Ludwig, and Alvin Singleton.
